IAVA issued the following statement in response to the announcement from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding the new GI Bill tuition benefit in CA:
"Today, the VA issued a critical decision that will help tens of thousands of new veterans attend colleges in California. IAVA led the fight for this fix and we are pleased to see such a prompt and positive response. With this announcement, California veterans will receive $287 per credit, whereas before these veterans would have received nothing toward their tuition costs simply due to a wording technicality. This is an especially huge win for vets attending graduate programs or private universities where they could now receive $8,500 more per year."
