I get a lot of questions from veterans who are eligible for both the Montgomery GI Bill (Active and Reserve portions) and the Post-9/11 GI Bill who want to know how to maximize their benefits. Nine times out of 10 the Post-9/11 GI Bill is a better option for those that are eligible for full eligibility under both programs.
I wanted to take some time to address rumors have been circulating on social media and throughout the veterans community that the Post-9/11 GI Bill is expiring or that eligibility requirements are changing. These rumors are false. Nothing is happening to the benefits you've earned as part of your service.
In case you haven't heard, yesterday the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act of 2015 was unanimously passed by the U.S. Senate. President Obama is scheduled to sign it into law as early as February 3. This is a tremendous victory for veterans everywhere, as our nation confronts a loss of 22 veterans a day to suicide
